  • Built the transport business in Norway from market entry to a leading position.
  • Grew the organization to approximately 130 employees across four locations.
  • Helped secure major contracts, including ERTMS Onboard National Deployment (approx. EUR 200 million) and a framework agreement for up to 200 local and regional trains (approx. EUR 1.8 billion).
  • Business Development on Iceland - Introduction of railway (airport express trains and city tram network).

Leadership grounded in technology and business

Carl Åge Bjørgan is a strategic business leader with more than 30 years of experience across industry, energy, environmental technology, transport and sustainability.

His career combines CEO-level leadership with a technical background in chemical engineering and extensive experience from complex industrial and project-based businesses. Throughout his career, he has worked with technologies and solutions related to environmental performance and the energy transition, including emissions control, carbon capture (CCS), energy-intensive industries and sustainable transport.

Most recently, he spent nearly ten years as Managing Director for Alstom Norway & Iceland, where he built and scaled the Norwegian transport business from market entry to a leading position. The organization grew from 1 to approximately 130 employees, with revenues of around NOK 470 million, while securing and delivering several major national contracts.

Earlier in his career, he held senior international roles in engineering, business development and project management across Europe, the Middle East and Asia. His experience includes major environmental technology projects for the aluminium and energy industries, including engineering management related to carbon capture technology at TCM Mongstad.

  • Built Alstom Transport in Norway from market entry to a leading market position.
  • Secured major contracts, including ERTMS Onboard National Deployment (approx. EUR 200 million) and a local and regional train framework agreement (approx. EUR 1.8 billion).
